Kapchagai reservoir
Location: 70 km from Almaty.
Description: The Kapchagai reservoir is one of the largest lakes in Kazakhstan, as its length is 100 km and width – 25 km. Today it is the most visited place in Almaty region for summer recreation.

The Kapshagai reservoir is 70 km from Almaty. The Kapchagai Gorge stretches for 30 km. Here ends the tectonic part of the Ili Valley. Ili River rushes into the gorge at speeds of up to 6 m/sec. Following its channel expands to 300-350 m.
The Kapchagai Reservoir, created to regulate the river flow. Level  of the Kapchagai lake ranges from 4 m, it carries long-term flow regulation. It is used for power generation and irrigation. There is the town Kapchagai near the reservoir.
It is very hot during summer there, sometimes up to +40°C. Therefore, it is necessary to take a hat and sunglasses. The water temperature is + 18°C +20°C from May to June, +22°C to +28°C in July – August and +18°C to +20°C in September.
Most disbursed is northern shore, where there are numerous recreational areas. Tourists should remember that Kapchagai sometimes suddenly swooped down by the north-west wind, which can catch a great wave. It creates a dangerous situation for kayaks and inflatable boats. In such cases, the need to quickly hit the beach.

The complex has all the requirements of modern leisure, located in the 200 meters, near the dam, on the right side (before fasting GAI). Description: services –  restaurant and hotel center, a dance floor, SPA center, sauna, two to ten people each. Club and dance music.
