Location: The lake belongs to the Balkhash-Alakol water basin and is located in three regions of Kazakhstan: Almaty, Zhambyl and Karaganda.
Description: Balkhash is internal-drainage freshwater lake in eastern Kazakhstan, the second largest perennial saline lake (after the Caspian Sea) and the 13 in the list of the largest lakes in the world.

Location: Borovoe village is located 95 km south-east of Kokshetau, 20 kilometers north of the railway station “resort Borovoe” (in Shuchinsk). It is located on the Kokchetav heights, at an altitude of about 480 m, in pine forest, on the isthmus separating Lake Borovoe, and big Chebache.
Description: Borovoe has a poetic title – “The Pearl of Kazakhstan” for its beauty, the abundance of lakes, flora and fauna.

Location: Alakol Lake is located on the border of the Almaty and East Kazakhstan regions at an altitude of 347 meters above sea level.
Description: More than 15 tributaries flow in the lake. The highest tem-perature on the surface of water is -26 degrees, in shallow coastal areas in the northern zone is 30 degrees. At a depth of 20 meters the water temperature does not exceed 18 degrees.

Location: The Kapchagai reservoir is 70 km from Almaty.
Description: The Kapchagai reservoir is one of the largest lakes in Kazakhstan, as its length is 100 km and width – 25 km. Today it is the most visited place in Almaty region for summer recreation
