Northern Kazakhstan Northern Kazakhstan includes North Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Akmola and Kostanai Regions. This region is situated in the utmost northern part of the Republic, in the basin of the Esil, the Tobol and the Obagan rivers. From the west to the east, Northern Kazakhstan occupies the territory of more than 1300 km, and from the north to the south – about 900 km. |

Southern Kazakhstan Southern Kazakhstan includes the Almaty, Zhambyl, South Kazakhstan and Kyzylorda Regions. The region occupies a vast territory from the Aral Sea in the west to the Zhungarian Gates in the east, and from Lake Balkhash and the barren plateau of the Betpak-Dala in the north, to the borders of the Republic in the south, including the northern part of the Kyzyl-Kum Desert, the western and northern spurs of the Tian Shan Mountains and the ridges of the Zhungarian Alatau. |

Central Kazakhstan The territory of Central Kazakhstan covers 398.8 km², with a population of 1.72 million people, and a population density of 4.5 people per km², 86% of whom live in towns and settlements. It is a treasury of natural resources. This region has many memorable places, in which have been preserved many archeological and ethnographic sites. |

Western Kazakhstan West Kazakhstan Region is the gate to the central and southern parts of Kazakhstan and to the Central Asian countries. It is located in the northwest of the republic. Western Kazakhstan includes the West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Mangystau and Aktyubinsk Provinces. The region is situated in the utmost west and southwest of the Republic. Its vast territory stretches for 1200 km from north to south and for 1300 km from west to east. |

Eastern Kazakhstan Eastern Kazakhstan is situated in the center of the Eurasian continent, which is marked by a corresponding memorial, at the crossing point of the 79th parallel and 49th meridian. Additionally, East Kazakhstan has a unique geopolitical position. The region is located in the spot where four large states connect: Mongolia, Kazakhstan, China and Russia. |
